The Cody Rivers Show Presents: Stick to Glue
God bless America for producing the absurd sketch comedy duo that is The Cody Rivers Show.
Bellingham natives Andrew Connor and Mike Mathieu grab you by the collar the moment they slo-mo dash into the spotlight and keep your eyes glued to the stage for an hour of physical theatre that’s clever, silly and electric.
Their collection of seamlessly connected, impeccably delivered sketches moves at the pace of a teppan chef’s knife slicing and dicing into the funny side of memos and intercoms, bird behaviour, coming clean, academic drivel, Baltimore, charades, codespeak (“No my off sweat balls!”) and yes, even face-to-face theatre (it’s still a young art form, don’t you know). Not even Michael Phelps could keep up.
In 2007, The Cody Rivers Show brought us the hilarious Flammable People, and this year, these high-speed clowns have set the bar even higher. They may don question marks on their faces but there’s no question about it: this is the optimal mix of goofy and astute, of whimsical and observant, of playful and wise … and the finger people crawling over audience members’ scalps will have you giggling like a school girl (even if it’s your bald head they’ve landed on).
Once a year at the Fringe is not enough. We want this pair on TV once a week!
In conclusion: may we strongly suggest you go to this show? Stick to Glue will stick with you.
